Starts Long Before Someone Resigns
“Retaining Key Talent” is a full practical launch session for leaders and managers who want to spot disengagement earlier, strengthen retention, and create teams people want to stay part of.
Most retention problems do not appear suddenly. By the time someone resigns, the warning signs have usually been there for months.
This launch session explores the leadership behaviours, management habits, and blind spots that silently push strong people away long before resignation becomes visible.
Delivered by Luke Todd, this is a full practical workshop designed for leaders who want to improve retention through better leadership, accountability, and people conversations rather than reactive HR processes alone.
The session will take place at Hilltop Gardens from 9:30am to 5:00pm, allowing time for meaningful discussion, reflection, and practical application throughout the day.
Who Is This Session For?
This session is designed for:
- People managers
- Mid-level and senior leaders
- Business owners scaling teams
- Organisations experiencing retention strain or disengagement
- Leaders managing high-performing teams under pressure
- Managers who want to strengthen team engagement and accountability
The Challenge
Many organisations still treat retention as an HR issue. In reality, retention is shaped daily through leadership behaviour.
Managers often focus heavily on workload, deadlines, and operational delivery while missing the quieter signs of disengagement developing inside the team. Underperformance is tolerated too long. Strong performers compensate for weaker performance. Recognition becomes inconsistent. Meaningful development conversations disappear.
Over time, talented employees stop feeling seen, challenged, or supported.
The risk is not always obvious. Many organisations only recognise the problem once someone becomes a “silent leaver” and starts becoming open to opportunities elsewhere.
Once that happens, the business has usually already lost them.
What Attendees Will Experience
This is a practical, discussion-led working session focused on real leadership situations rather than theory.
Participants will work through the retention risks, leadership habits, and management behaviours that commonly damage engagement without leaders realising it. The session is designed to create honest reflection around how managers communicate, recognise performance, handle accountability, and support growth within their teams.
Rather than discussing generic case studies, attendees will apply the conversation directly to the real people and dynamics inside their own teams.
The room will be intentionally curated to allow meaningful discussion, challenge, and practical participation throughout the full-day session.
